Sharing the Shelter Link-Up and Giveaway

"Thanksgiving and praise be to God our Heavenly Father - Every good and perfect gift comes from above – Thanksgiving and praise be to God our great Creator – I will ascribe to Him all majesty and praise Him for His love.”
– Jerald Glick

My daughter, Melanie, wrote the post for today.  As always, I'm so thankful for her creativity.  Scroll down to enter the giveaway.

        Sheltering the Teachers

What to do, what to do? I want to send a small treat this Thanksgiving season to the teachers at our Christian Day School. Here I am, on my couch wrapped in warmth from the heat our wood stove is supplying, my mind "getting things done" while my body rests. Ah-ha! Let’s do “Pumpkin Fluff in a Jar”! Oh yes, I know, so creative am I. Ha. Numerous photos of "desserts in a jar" floating in cyberspace. Not completely original. But I love it. Easy…and good eye candy.

Now let me tell you. I am reminded many times of how spoiled-blessed I am to have such wonderful, caring teachers to leave my boys with during school hours. Mrs. Turner’s patience with my 6 yr. old Landon (whom I feel is a whiner/tattle-tale, but we are working on it!), Mrs. Clemens, aka Nana, who lovingly makes sure
that Ethan is keeping on track for the end of the year Scripture trophy, Mrs. Coleman who so wants kids to obey their parents and follow Jesus, Mr. (Uncle) Scott who makes school fun and keeps the Bible fresh and exciting, and our sweet secretary, DeLynda, who keeps everyone in check and answers any questions I might have – speedily, I might add. They are by far “(…a) perfect gift that comes from above” as written in the words of the song above.

I bet some of you are thinking, “Well, I do stuff like this, too!” Totally Fantastic! Share your ideas, please?!! Or others are thinking, “Oh, phooey. Forget about this! It’s already too late in the week to do this since we get out early for Thanksgiving Break.” What? No way! Let me get you in on a secret I discovered back a couple years or so…teachers need to be reminded of how thankful we are – get this – ALL YEAR LONG! You heard me. Oct. 9th, maybe Jan. 15th, March 22nd, and oh, maybe even the last day of April. You get the idea. They get depressed, discouraged and disgruntled. (I would if I had to work with everyone else’s children all day long!)

It doesn’t have to be a big thing. I love to have a dessert to eat on Sunday. I made a big batch of Rice Krispies topped with my Grandma Cessna’s peanut butter icing a couple weeks ago. One piece in a baggie with their name and “Happy Monday” with a blue sharpie and the treats were good to go for my boys' teachers. Luckily, even the teacher who is allergic to chocolate could have this. (If you know me, it’s amazing it didn't have any chocolate added. Just happens Rice Krispies and chocolate don’t work for me.)

See? It’s sometimes that simple. ….Today I am thankful for Teachers Who Make A Difference!

Very sweet. And so true about teachers. We had our kids in schools for a while and homeschooled for a while. The teachers have such a difficult job, and I know they feel unappreciated sometimes. I love how you are sheltering and appreciating them!
