Dining with Jesus and Share the Shelter Linkup

God has everything you need there-joy, forgiveness, restoration, peace, healing- whatever you need, it's waiting for you at God's banquet table if you'll pull up your chair and take the place He has prepared for you. ~Joel Osteen

Two sweet boys pulled up to my table tonight.  Tuesdays are long with Emily having a night class and RB staying at the university to work on his own class and catch up on office details. I solved that tonight by borrowing some company.

Instead of using my china and crystal, I catered to the soldiers in little boys and we ate off camouflage plates with matching napkins. This banquet was presented with Ethan and Landon in mind.  Grandmommas are allowed to do that, you know, so don't judge the menu.

It didn't take them long to come to the table when I called and it reminded me of when I hear the call from Jesus to "Come and Dine."  I haven't heard this old song for a long time, but it made me smile.

Jesus has a table spread
Where the saints of God are fed
He invites His chosen people:
"Come and dine."

With his manna he does feed
And supplieth every need
Oh, it's good to sup with Jesus all the time.

Chorus:

"Come and dine," the Master calls,"Come and dine."
You can eat at Jesus' table anytime.
He who fed the multitude,
Changed the water into wine
To the hungry calleth now, "Come and dine."
(Charles B. Widmeye)

Like Grandmommas, God spreads out our favorite meals -- not just combat rations. Prime Rib of the Word, Fruit of the Spirit smoothies, veggie instruction to help us grow and a chocolate dessert just to remind us how much He loves us. It's  manna good for only one day, encouraging a daily meal appointment with Him.

A special treat for my RB
When I hear God's invitation -- sometimes a whisper when my heart is waiting for His call but sometimes louder when the responsibilities of life muffle the sound and it's harder to hear -- I run to His table. And there I am satisfied with water from the ever-springing well; with the bread of life, so rich and free.

"When your words showed up, I ate them— swallowed them whole. What a feast! What delight I took in being yours" (Jeremiah 15:16).

What a beautiful song. First time here and I'm loving this new meme, new to me that is, as I love anything that involves our Lord Jesus Christ, our Saviour. I'm posting a very easy and cheap recipe, that everyone seems to love around here! Thank you for the party. Big hugs,

This post made me smile. Loved how you described chocolate for dessert as a reminder of His love to us. It's been awhile since I've sung this hymn as well. I've enjoyed singing the words as I read them here. Thanks so much for this sweet post. -Susie

A very touching post Pamela! :) I love your description of God's menu and the way you ended it; "It's manna good for only one day, encouraging a daily meal appointment with Him." Amen!

What a special treat; I always love preparing a special meal for my grandsons...you are right; grandma's are allowed. :)

Blessings for a joyful week and more fun!

Having just wrapped up several days with three of our grandchildren, this post made me look back with a sigh....how quickly the days went and what a joy to see the world through their eyes for a few days!

I haven't heard that song for a long time. The chorus will be running through my mind for most of the day, I rather suspect :)

How awesome. I love the imagery of joining God at a feast, because it's something we all must do, and when you can do it with someone you love, no matter what's on the menu, the meal will fulfill you like no other.

I love your post so much that I just read it to my kids, as we all sit here in the family room with our electronic devices, in the middle of a thunderstorm. It was such a blessing to my heart!

Thank you for letting us link up here today! Hugs to you, Pamela!
