We Should Pray

May we ever, Lord, be bringing
All to Thee in earnest prayer.

Joseph Scriven

Friday was one of those days that was a joy to this momma. I was speaking at a mother/daughter banquet and Melanie and Emily went along to sing. Morgan came with us, too. We packed a lot of fun into our three hour drive, stopping at Starbucks for drinks (and a purple flower cookie for Morgan).

In the middle of Melanie’s pep talk -- “You’ll do awesome, Mom” and “God will use your words”-- Morgan spoke up, “We should pray.”

I wish I had a picture to show you our 6-year-old Morgan, hands folded and tucked under her chin, asking God to help Mawmaw speak and Mommy and Auntie sing. Her simple prayer brought God’s presence into our vehicle.

How often do I face times when I give myself little pep talks when I could so easily ask God to help me. I try to face difficult times in my own strength when I should pray.

Shawn and Melanie overheard Morgan praying for her breakfast the next day. “Thank you, God, for protecting us on our trip. Thank you for helping Mawmaw speak. Thank you for helping Auntie and Mommy sing.”

Is it any wonder God said, “A little child will lead them?” God must delight in Morgan’s heart full of trust for her Heavenly Father. I want to have a heart that responds to each need with “We should pray” and be just as quick in offering thanks for God’s help.

This was pure beauty, Pamela. Yes, childlike faith, an example for all of us to follow. It's so simple really - we should pray. Indeed.

GOD BLESS!

Hi dear Pamela, what a beautiful post this is. Morgan was such a sweetheart and was obviously used by our Abba Father to build encouragement into your heart. I haven't visited your blog for some time but today I wanted to check out your latest post... so glad I did! Blessings...
