God's Delight in Me

The Lord your God is in your midst, a mighty one who will save; he will rejoice over you with gladness (Zephaniah 3:17).

It came in the mail
This letter, long awaited
Acceptance, so proud.
Questioning Daddy
Can I?
Assurance, you can.
She could...
And she did!
Amazing, my girl
Smiling  and singing
Praising her God.
Answering, the call

Emily has completed her first year of college. Her smile was brilliant when she walked through the door on Wednesday. I've found such joy in the bubbles of her freedom.

Smiling when I know she's curled up under her music score comforter.  Smiling when I see her without a textbook in her hands. Smiling seeing her at Panera chatting with her friend.  I find such delight in seeing the normalness of her days.  Summer will pass too quickly for my Emily.  A trip to Haiti, spending the weeks in Indy and working in the daycare, helping in Children's Church and carefree Sunday dates.  All too soon she'll be back at the university and I'll delight in her perseverance and determination.

I think God takes pleasure in my days, too.  Smiling when I get enough sleep. Smiling when I close the closet on the freshly ironed shirts. Smiling when He sees me chatting at Panera with my friend. Yes, I think He finds delight in the normalness of my life.  It's just a small break until I'm back to duties. Writing projects are never-ending.  I believe God delights in my perseverance and determination to push toward the goals He birthed in my heart.

Ah...delight works both ways.  David reminds me to delight in the Lord and He will give me what my heart desires. Interesting, this delight. It circles around us in those bubbles of joy. Like the rainbow in each bubble and the small splash upon bursting, delight is doubled.  My delight--in Emily and my God, and God's delight--in Emily and her momma.  Rejoicing with gladness is God's way of showing us His delight.  I, too, rejoice with gladness.

I relate so well with your post today. It's so very true.I have done devotions on this subject. One of My very favorite verses,is the one you used.My soul rejoices over this truth. One more little thought we have that's very much the same.I see the Holy Spirit gleaming down on Me in glittering bubbles.Only because when I was a teenager I had a dream that showed that happening.

Your pleasure in Emily is obvious...to see her growing, balanced, learning, and glowing. What a great reminder of the qualities that bring the Father pleasure!

I like thinking about God delighting in our normalness. Just like we delight in our kids, grandkids in their everyday actions and accomplishments. We're not waiting until they do something worthy of our love, but we love them because they are a part of us.
Thank you!

A lovely post, Pamela.

I so often overlook or forget the fact that God truly does delight in me. That in some way I bring Him joy. That pleases me to no end.

May I always seek to delight in Him - and trust Him to give me what's best - even if that means changing MY desires into HIS!

Congrats to Emily!

GOD BLESS!

I take great delight that my oldest son will be graduating in two weeks! It's hard to believe that four years have already past! But this reminds me of how God delights in all that is good in our lives as well. Thanks for sharing, Pamela!

and what a delightful post! I loved to read of the purity in the care-free days when school is slowed, and the work has come for a moment of pause.

Such a blessing for me to read today! I do believe that our God delights in us.

Serving Him with joy,
Deanna

What a delightful post, Pamela. I think you're right. I think God delights in His children somewhat like we delight in ours but I'm sure it is even more intense because He is perfect, and we are not. Thank you for sharing.
Blessings,
Charlotte

Isn't it great to know that the Lord delights in us and in our everyday activities?
Thank you for the reminder that when we delight in the Lord, He will give us the desires of our heart. I'm going to go do some delighting now! I have lots of desires that I want fulfilled in a short time!
Thank you for visiting,
Blessings,
Janis

Oh, this is beautiful. I don't often think of God delighting in me that way - about the normal, little things - but that is so true. Thank you for sharing it.

Beautiful!

Yes, I love that so much. Double delight, even triple.

When one delights in the Lord, she in turn is delighted by God and round it goes, in full circle, radiating and generating.

Thanks.
