We've Been Busy

I didn't mean to take these few weeks off of blogging -- it just happened! The Kuhn girls have been having a blast with our Christmas sheltering.  Here's a bit of what we've been up to:

Melanie made these for the Sunday School class she helps with and some other children, too.

Melanie's sweet little helper:

Emily made these for the 4th grade class where she did her practicum. Twenty-five children who stole her heart this semester were given the makings for Snowman Soup.  You can find the printable here: http://coupon-wizards.com/snowman-soup/

Melanie helped me make Monster Cookies for my writing class at Heartland Christian School.  I took enough for the whole school -- I think the Headmaster was the most excited.

Monster Cookies
Cook with Joy -- Ellen Benninger

My daddy made these every year for the grands and great-grands -- always their favorites
1/2 lb butter
1 lb. brown sugar
2 cups white sugar
1/2 T vanilla
6 eggs
1 1/2 lb peanut butter
1/2 T corn syrup
4 tsp soda
9 cups oatmeal
1 lb chocolate chips
1 lb M&M candies
(This recipe does not use flour.)

1. Cream butter; gradually add sugar and vanilla, beating well.
2. Add eggs, peanut butter and corn syrup; beat well.
3  Add oats and soda, stirring well.
4. Add chocolate chips and candy.
5. Drop dough on ungreased sheets using an ice cream scoop, placing cookies     4 inches apart.
6.  Bake in a preheated 350 oven for 12 to 18 minutes.

Slide each cookie into a disk sleeve and tie with baker's twine.

I'm sure baking and gifting shelter is going on in your corner of the world, too. I'm opting for simple and relaxed this year -- enjoying both the process and the giving.

What's your favorite recipe for gifting?

How lovely everything is that your family has created! And me? I'm not known for my baking skills - so any recipe I attempted just might be a recipe for disaster!!

I prefer to eat the recipes made by other people!!

Like Monster Cookies! :-)

GOD BLESS!

Time IS flying by, isn't it? No wonder you've been "missing in action"! I've been making a harvest-hearty vegetable soup and putting in jars - not so much for holiday giving as much as just for what "ails" you...new baby, busy friend, etc. My recipe makes such a large quantity that it is "easy" to give away plenty for quick and nourishing meals.

Hi Pamela! Welcome back, it's nice to see you again!
We just made Peanut Butter Balls, and they are amazing. We will be giving them away this year.

The only downside is that they have peanuts...some kids have pretty severe allergies to peanuts. So, we always warn about that.

Your cookies look so good...and BIG! Love big cookies :)
Happy Weekend!

Yummy looking sweet treats! I'm doing pumpkin rolls for a few of my gifts this year (like to our mechanic, my husband's boss etc.).
